Varese was an Italian cargo ship. It transported phosphorus materials on the route Venice – Tunisia. In 1915 a strong wind called bura made the captain change his plan and reach the port of Pula for safety. A tragic destiny for the ship happened when Varese entered a mine field, lost the bow in a huge explosion and sunk quickly. Nowadays, the wreck lies at a depth of 41 m and it is well preserved. The dive starts at a depth of 32 m. The wreck is 65 meters long and 10 meters wide and it is covered with many sponges. You may encounter big conger eels, scorpion fish and schools of different fishes.
