Not much is known about the sinking of this ship, but it is known that the boat was built in England and equipped with J. Gilmore engines, from where it got the name. It is believed that John Gilmore was one of the first ships that sunk in the North Adriatic during World War I. This merchant steamship had a sad destiny, but it is now one of the best preserved wrecks in this area. The 85 m long and 12 m wide wreck starts at 30 meters and stretches to 42 meters deep. What makes this dive site popular is the possibility for experienced divers to dive inside the well maintained wreck.
